International Champions Cup Final
July 29th, 2017 marked a record in Tennessee's soccer history as Nissan Stadium played host to 56,232 fans, the state's largest attendance ever. The International Champions Cup final featured Tottenham vs Manchester City, two top-flight teams from the English Premier League, each boasting a roster consisting of some of the sport's top players. The opportunity to document this milestone as well as to see this level of the sport played up close was truly once in a lifetime and presented a unique challenge to me as a first-time-soccer-photographer. However, my experience shooting American football and years of avidly playing recreational soccer certainly aided me in understanding how to follow the play from behind the lens. I even got the chance to help out a photo editor from the Tennessean at half-time, identifying players whose numbers/names weren't visible in photos. The exciting match and record setting attendance gave a boost for Nashville's chances as the city bids for one of four MLS expansion spots currently up for grabs.
